Hey team!
I’ve been having such a good time snorkelling and doing handstands around the rocks and break wall at the Kingston Beach Boat Ramp, I thought it about time I share the experience with you guys!
THE SPOT:
This special spot is sheltered, shallow (max 3m), has easy access in and out including a ramp and ladder not to mention there is SO much to see in this one little area!
There is some parking at the Boat Ramp but there is also a larger car park on Mount Royal Road just past the boat ramp as well as along the Kingston Beach.
WHAT CAN WE SEE?:
Expect to see a healthy seagrass patch hosting life to many little critters including baby Pipefish, baby Leatherjacket and even baby Seahorses. Amongst the rocks you will find all the usual Southern Tassie reef life from Sponges, Sea anemones and Algae's to Blennies, various Wrasse species and big Marble fish. Not to mention the schools of mullet, Australian Salman and sea sweep that frequent the area and MUCH MUCH more!
THE HANDSTANDS!: (not mandatory)
I’m a slightly obsessed with doing handstands in the water when I jump in for a look and I often think I'm going for ages but I want someone to challenge that! I’m talking all fun and games but at the same time, let’s see who’s got game ;) so after we check out some cool stuff let’s have some fun doing some handstands on the sand in just over waist deep water.
So rock up at 6pm to meet the community then jump in for a snorkel, followed by some handstands, get dry and warm and enjoy a byo warm drink and conversation before heading home from work.
Everyone is welcome to this event including families and first time snorkelers.
