Deep South Freediving – Terms & Conditions
1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing the Deep South Freediving website (www.deepsouthfreediving.com.au), booking a service, or participating in any of our activities, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use our website or services.
2. Our Services
Deep South Freediving offers freediving courses, training sessions, workshops, tours, retreats, and related experiences.
All services are subject to availability and are only confirmed once payment and required documentation have been received.
3. Bookings & Participation Requirements
All participants must:
Complete all required registration, medical, and liability forms prior to participation
Be physically fit for freediving activities and confident swimmers for any in-water sessions
Provide medical clearance from a physician if required by the medical questionnaire
A booking is considered confirmed only when:
Full payment has been received, and
All required administrative and safety documentation has been completed and approved.
Deep South Freediving reserves the right to refuse or cancel participation at its discretion where safety, wellbeing, or suitability is a concern.
4. Changes, Cancellations & Transfers
Student Cancellations
All bookings are non-refundable once payment has been received. We encourage you to notify us as early as possible if you are unable to attend.
Freediving Courses
Course dates may be rescheduled once if notice is provided at least 14 days prior to the course start date
Rescheduling requests must be made via phone (0456 895 388) or email (info@deepsouthfreediving.com.au)
Rescheduling requests within 14 days of the course start date cannot be accommodated
Late arrivals, missed sessions, or no-shows are not eligible for refunds, credits, or transfers
Training Sessions (Pool & Line Training)
Training sessions and session packages are non-refundable or transferable
Transfers may be approved only if:
The replacement participant holds appropriate freediving certification (minimum PADI Basic Freediver or equivalent for pool training and PADI Freediver or equivalent for line training)
All medical and liability forms are completed prior to the session
The replacement participant has been fully informed of session details, safety expectations, and location
Deep South Freediving has been notified of the transfer and approved it
The replacement participant contacts us directly and submits required documentation
All participants must read and agree to the Deep South Pool Training Guidelines, available during the booking process.
Private Coaching
Cancellations that include pool training within 7 days of your session will incur a $50 lane hire fee
48+ hours notice allows you to reschedule your session
Cancellations within 24-48 hours may incur a 50% session fee
Cancellations within 24 hours or late arrivals, missed sessions, or no-shows are not eligible for refunds, credits, or transfers
We understand that life happens so each student is offered one flexible late cancellation per package where possible.
Workshops
Workshops are non-refundable
Transfers may be permitted under similar conditions to Training Sessions, where appropriate certification and medical clearance are required
Boat Dives & Charters
Boat dive bookings are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled
Vessel and crew are secured well in advance, and operational costs are committed regardless of attendance
Transfers may be approved only if:
The replacement participant holds appropriate freediving certification (minimum PADI Freediver or equivalent)
Medical, liability and boat waiver forms are completed at least 24 hours prior
All charter details have been shared with the replacement participant
The change is requested within 24 hours of the scheduled charter
The replacement participant contacts us directly and completes all required documentation
5. Minimum Participant Numbers & Operator Cancellations
Some courses and training sessions require a minimum number of participants to proceed.
Freediving is highly dependent on conditions, and safety is always our top priority. If conditions are deemed unsafe or unsuitable, the session will be rescheduled at no cost
If minimum numbers are not met 12 hours prior to the scheduled start time, Deep South Freediving may postpone or cancel the activity
In such cases, participants will be transferred to a future date within 12 months of the original booking
No refunds will be issued where minimum numbers are not met
We reserve the right to change dates, locations, instructors, or session formats due to weather, safety considerations, or unforeseen circumstances.
We always aim to make the call as early as possible and will keep you informed with clear communication.
If Deep South Freediving cancels a session, participants may choose to reschedule or request a refund for the affected booking.
6. Medical Exceptions (Transfer Only)
If you become medically unfit to participate:
A one-time transfer to a future course date (within 12 months) may be requested
A valid medical certificate must be provided within 7 days of notification
No refunds are issued under this clause
Medical clearance may be required before returning to training
7. Non-Refundable Components
All PADI eLearning, certification fees, and third-party course materials are strictly non-refundable once access has been issued.
8. Course Completion & Certification
In accordance with PADI Standards:
All course components (theory, pool, ocean, exams) must be completed within 12 months of course commencement
It is the student’s responsibility to contact Deep South Freediving to complete outstanding requirements
Re-assessment or repeat components incur a $100 fee per component
9. Safety & Conduct
Safety is central to everything we do.
Participants must follow all instructions provided by instructors and staff.
Any participant who behaves in a way that endangers themselves, others, or the environment may be removed from an activity without refund.
10. Marine Ethics & Environmental Responsibility
Deep South Freediving is committed to responsible and ethical marine interaction.
All participants must comply with local and international marine protection laws and environmental guidelines.
Respect for marine life, habitats, and ecosystems is mandatory during all activities.
11. Pricing & Payment
All prices are listed in Australian Dollars (AUD) and include GST unless otherwise stated
Full payment is required prior to participation
Prices may change without notice; confirmed bookings will not be affected
12. Liability & Assumption of Risk
Freediving involves inherent risks.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Deep South Freediving and its staff accept no liability for injury, loss, or damage incurred during participation, except where liability cannot be excluded by law.
Participants engage in all activities at their own risk and should seek medical advice if unsure of their fitness to participate.
13. Privacy
We respect your privacy and handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
14. Intellectual Property
All website content, branding, images, and materials are the intellectual property of Deep South Freediving.
No content may be copied, reproduced, or used without prior written permission.
15. Photography & Media Use
Photos and videos may be taken during activities for promotional purposes.
If you do not wish to appear in marketing material, please notify us in advance.
Images may be shared for personal use with appropriate credit to @deepsouthfreediving and the photographer.
Commercial use without permission is prohibited.
16. Amendments
These Terms & Conditions may be updated at any time.
Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of any changes.
17. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Tasmania, Australia.
