A 3 Day course to take your freediving to the next level with confidence.

This 3-day Molchanovs Wave 2 Advanced Freediver Course is designed to level up your freediving through a combination of theory, pool and ocean sessions. You'll expand upon your Level 1 skills, safety knowledge, and confidence to hold your breath longer & dive deeper.

What is Level 2 Advanced Freediver?

What You’ll Learn

Static & Dynamic Apnea

Introduction to no-fins, statics and dynamic training. Comfortably dive 50m in DYNB and 35m in DNF & hold your breath for 2’30”.

Equalisation & Depth

Perform reverse packing and an improved Frenzel technique. Dive comfortably to 24 - 30m in FIM and CWTB & 15m in CNF.

Safety & Rescue

Learn comprehensive buddy procedures, Safety & Rescue freedivers from 10 - 15m of depth & self rescue from 10m with no mask.

Theory & Physiology

Have a deeper knowledge of freediving physics, understand and perform mental training and mindfulness techniques.

Level 2 Advanced Freediver

Course structure:

Hobart

  • Friday 9-5pm: Theory & Pool

Tasman Peninsula

  • Saturday 1-4pm: Shore Dive

  • Sunday 9-4:30pm: Theory & Boat Dive

Your Certification Goals:

  • Dive comfortably to 24 - 30m in Constant Weight Bi-Fins (CWTB)

  • Dive comfortably to 24 - 30m in Free Immersion (FIM)

  • Dive comfortably to 15m in Constant Weight No-Fins (CNF)

  • Comfortably hold your breath for 2’30” (STA)

  • Dive 50m Dynamic Bi-Fins (DYNB)

  • 35m Dynamic No-Fins (DNF)

  • Safety & Rescue freedivers from 10 - 15m of depth

  • 10m no mask self rescue

  • Freefall 4m minimum

Upon successful completion, you'll earn a globally recognised Molchanovs Wave 2 Freediver certification, recognised internationally and transferable between major freediving agencies.

What to Bring:

  • Fins, mask and snorkel & optional nose clip

  • Wetsuit with hood (minimum 2 piece, 5mm, open cell recommended for Tassie waters)

  • Weight belt/ weights

  • Wetsuit gloves and socks

  • Towel and warm change of clothes

  • Reusable water bottle and optional snacks

  • Yoga mat or towel for Breath Work Session

Who Can Join:

  • Minimum PADI Freediver (Level 1) or equivalent certification

  • Able to swim 200 meters confidently

  • 18+ years of age

  • Complete a medical check (medical clearance required if any conditions are flagged)

  • A cross over evaluation may be required

After Your Level 2 Advanced Freediver Course:

  • Receive a globally recognised Molchanovs Wave 2 Freediver certification upon successful completion

  • Progress to Level 3 Master Freediver / Assistant Instructor and assist on Deep South Courses

    Unable to meet your goals? Don’t worry! You can rebook individual components of your course within 12 months

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Safety comes first. If conditions aren't suitable, we'll reschedule the ocean session to another day that works for you and the group.

  • Completely normal. We progress gradually and never push you beyond your comfort zone. Many students surprise themselves with what they achieve when properly prepared.

  • No, hire gear is available through our partner dive store. If you need to rent gear, please contact us in advance to arrange.

  • Level 1 Freediver is an introduction to freediving course teaching you to dive up to 16m.

    Level 2 Advanced Freediver builds upon your Level 1 skills and teaches new techniques to dive deeper and longer up to 30m.

  • Not yet. A Level 1 Freediver certification is required before signing up to level Level 2.

  • We work with each student individually. Most people achieve the requirements with proper instruction, but if you need more time, you can book additional training for specific course requirements within 12 months.

  • This is completely normal. Freedive progression should be made gently and slowly. You can join our Pool and Line Training Sesisons to practice your skills while preparing for the course in a safe and controlled environment.
